BRINGING HISTORY HOME!!
Our new project involves restoring a piece of Jersey Shore history. This trolley car was part of the Jersey Shore Electric Railway Company in the early 1900’s. The trolley era ended in 1929 and the cars were sold to individuals. This car ended up as a hunting cabin in the Jersey Shore area. Around 2001 it was transported to a side yard of the Peter Herdic Transportation Museum in Williamsport, PA. The car has been undercover until it was “discovered” in April 2021. We were contacted by Skip Herman of the River Valley Transit Authority and wanted to know if we were interested in the trolley.
On April 29, 2021 the Williamsport City Council approved the donation of the trolley to The Jersey Shore Historical Society.
We are planning on restoring the trolley in time for the Bicentennial of Jersey Shore in 2026.
